The end of a month arrives and we pray for loved ones departed this life, for jobs at risk and people in Care Homes and the NHS (and elsewhere) in dangerous places and lay it all at the feet of the Christ. Grant us sleep and Your protection Lord. Amen.

The new week is but a sleep away and so we bring all that has been, repent, rejoice and hand it all to God and head for our beds looking towards a new day of blessings, challenge and opportunity.

The first prayer service of Advent contains the words:

Come, O Lord, and visit us in peace;
that we may rejoice before you with a perfect heart.

And that's what we did in tonight's service!

Relief and sadness combine to acknowledge a week now ending and the failure in completing perhaps all we had intended to do. But regardless, we can only go forward and so leave all at the feet of the Christ and with thanks and repentance, head for bed.

One of the joys of developing a pattern of prayer is the markers they place in our lives. Compline heralds the completion of the day and allows us to close accounts and head for bed with all stored away so we can sleep in the knowledge of God's love for us.

The end of another day and there has been sadness and joy as well as blessing within it: But Compline is about setting a seal on all that has been and, heading for bed, we find ourselves looking towards a new day with all that it might hold.

On this, the feast of Christ the King, we reflect upon all that Jesus Pantocrator (King of the universe) has done, given and does in our lives and praise, pray and rejoice in His glorious presence. 

 May we sleep well and wake refreshed ready for another day of blessing.

This night with flashes in the sky and explosions around us we remember 'gunpowder, treason and plot'.

But for those with PTSD caused by conflict past tonight is a recurring nightmare.

Tonight we pray for all victims of conflict and for justice, mercy and humility in the world.

Ever have one of those days when you just run out of steam and it all goes a bit South? 

Even then, though it gets a bit '???' God is still there and the ability to rest in His love and in His strength gets you through to bed. Goodnight all :-)
