Government departments to lose logos and websites
Oh No! I've just read an article about the various Government departments losing their individual logos in favour of a colour-variant of the Royal Crest. Not only that but the many departmental websites will be merged into one 'Governmental' site.

I have never been sure exactly who all this departmental branding is intended to impress. But I guess if you run your public services as though they were commercial businesses (and many of them now either are or are about to become so), then this is what you get. Bring back the old public service ethos, I say, and stop channelling tax revenue to private sector shareholders. To me this is a (very rare) step in the right direction.
...and probably being undertaken from entirely the wrong motives.
