A prayer for Manchester

Loving and compassionate God
on another day when horror and violence are seen
this time on our own shores rather than far off
take from us the desire to act in anger
turn our hearts to compassion for the injured and bereaved
turn our faces to justice and peace
our minds to right-thinking and right-responses

May Your peace:
a peace the world so often mistakes for weakness
a peace the world so often fails to understand
be with those affected by Manchester's loss and pain
and strengthen our resolve to stand for all that is right
Amen

And [you] tell me
Over and over and over and over again, my friend,
You don't believe,
We're on the eve of destruction,
Mmm, no, no, you don't believe,
We're on the eve of destruction.
