World Cup Willys

So FIFA has voted to give the World Cup for 2018 World Cup to Russia and the venue for 2022 is to be Qatar. Not surprisingly if the rumour mills are to be believed, the voting was well and truly in both nation's pockets long before the final vote. So, despite the mutterings and finger-pointing, there's no reason to blame the BBC (with it's incredibly inept timing over FIFA corruption exposés perhaps) or a bunch of inbred Brummies (fighting with each other after a Carling Cup game) for the loss of the World Cup to these shores.

Still we have the games fixed in two admirably suitable countries and the fact that they have the ability to influence those with votes is as clear as the fact that there won't be too much of a drinking problem in the 2022 games either.

I actually find it funny that the English FA bid stumbled and fell at the very first vote. Perhaps we needed the couple of 'dodgy geezers' to remain so we could at least have made a decent showing. Still, went to Wembley, saw the final (still got the programme and the ticket) and to be honest, 2018?

It's a load of gulags!

But I bet we get calls for enquiries, investigations and a witch hunt to find the culprit for the failed bid!

I would assume that the money was well and truly in the pockets of the Fifa officials long before any voting took place.

Like Formula One, Fifa is besotted by money and they have gone to oil and gas rich nations rather than 'developing' nations as they seem to be trying to claim.

F1, Fifa - two organisations and sports which put money above fans?

I see the Dutch nave entered into this issue with the news that the English bid was ';spiked' and that the votes they received disappeared to the Russian campaign once England were out of the picture!

There's obviously something less than a little right going on here.

hey Ho!
