Do you really want to know what I think?

So many people have been asking me question and so, just so people stop asking, here’s all the ducks lined up in a row for them to read:

So fed up with people telling me who I voted for.
They don’t know and I’m not telling!

So pleased that the Conservatives have a working majority. Now any failure to meet their manifesto promises, build ALL those new hospitals, provide all the new medical staff, police officers, etc. Etc.
Will all lie at the door of the government.

So sad that the election was such a pile of deceitful press propaganda, mindless reiteration of lies, bitterness, rancour and division. It’s going to take more than a comedy act to repair it!

Sad that we had such a low turnout to vote where I live. So many said it was a done deal so they’d stay home and watch something more entertaining on TV.

Sadder still that the NI solution betrays those who fought in operation banner and effectively opens the door to a journey that will eventually break the Union.

Even more sad is that the ‘Remain’ Scottish government will possibly vote to leave the Union too. They have the local support (all the other parties lost seats to them) and ‘the people have spoken’ (we like that phrase, don’t we?)

Interesting in that the attitudes and behaviour of many I know (for which I apologise) are publishing anti (insert name here) and spouting such tosh; using the word ‘traitor’ too easily, supporting jingoistic and nationalistic mantra and reminding me of the journey to kristalnacht 😞

The rise of one popular political party brings about the fall of another party undermined by the hate campaign against their leader and yet another through sheer geographical bad luck.

I’ve always been of the mind that if Corbyn wanted Labour to win, he should have stood down when the heat was first turned up. But then he’d only prove to the nasty people that their methods worked.

I’m also of the mind that we need someone of integrity who seeks a balanced community.

I’m of the mind that antisemitism isn’t the same as opposing the actions of Israel against Palestine.

I’m also of the mind that Palestinian terrorists are acting against their own people at times.

I abhor the actions of America to recognise Jerusalem as the political capital, this only inflames the tensions and fuels Islamic anger.

And if we get a trade deal with the US and we find that wonderful institution (the same thing the US President opposed in the legacy of Obama) being handed over to US companies. Who will stand to oppose it all.

Happy that when things go against those who voted for the winning side, those who didn’t can point to the fact that there is implicit danger in the truism that ‘one must be careful what you ask for - you just might get it!’.

Happy to point out that if you didn’t vote you have effectively forfeited your voice for the duration of this government, so please keep you opinions to yourself. You’ve decided to sit this dance out!

Now let’s see how the next ten years of sorting out Brexit - yes, I’m assuming there’s going to be a ‘no deal’ situation, it would only be five or six otherwise - let’s hope it’s kinder and more relational to other nations and nationalities than some desire.

And for those who want to use racist comments, display bigotry and write as disgracefully as you have (it really was Friday the thirteenth wasn’t it?) be warned.

I will report you - I will unfriend you - I will still care about you and pray for you, I just don’t need to hear your spiteful tosh any more.

Please try to remember that Jesus, the Christ, died to reconcile us all to God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) that we might live in equity, displaying humility, forgiveness and justice in all that we are.

Most of you don’t embrace the Christian faith (though you might wear a cross and call yourself ‘Christian’) and so, despite the veneers, it’s obvious who you serve. You’re choice - as for me, and my household, we will serve the Lord.

I think that’s all the questions answered.

So can we now move on and look at how we can make the places we inhabit fairer, united, and kinder?

Happy Saturday 🙂

Thanks Vic.

So much truth here. It should be in the National Press, but of course the right wing papers would denigrate it as is their habit and the left wing ones would take it as a sign of approval.

I don't have any answers, but I note that the headlines on BBC news this morning are about Strictly outcomes - rather than the political drama that has dominated our news for years and months.

I am praying for unity and promised being kept. We have to hope that integrity will return to our politics and public life, and that those who whose voice was not heard during the campaign (the EU UK residents and EU citizens resident here) will not be ignored.

As for the situation in NI, I served there twice during Op Banner and have looked on as the situation regarding veterans has become one of a blame game, while the other side rest on the knowledge that their acts are covered by a document giving them immunity from prosecution. Promises in respect of this have been broken. Lets see how much priority it is given among the many challenges facing the new government.

Thanks for this - I think we have much to do in the Church to broker reconciliation and seek the truth to heal the wounds.
