Compline (night prayer) - Tuesday, 12 January 2021

Lord, this broken world needs a Saviour, helper, listener and comforter. Taking the fragments of this day we lay them at the foot of the cross, by the blood of Jesus, the Christ, bring all creation into your healing presence.

Hear us and let our prayers come before You - be God in everything for us this night and always.

Above the noise, in the compline, the still small voice of God is heard bringing peace, healing and wholeness. We bring the fallen and cruel, the wicked and dishonest and ask for your healing for them and the world.

The day draws to its close and so we grasp all around and reflecting and praying over them all, lay them at the feet of Jesus, the Christ, and head for our beds and the restoration that is sleep.

The day ends and taking all that it has contained, we lay it at the foot of the cross and entrust it, and ourselves, into God's care as we head for our beds and sleep. Lord, stay close by us this night we pray.

The sun has set and the problems of the day (along with the blessings, challenges and opportunities) lay on the floor before us. So we grasp them and, reflecting on all before us, place it all in the basket labelled 'God cares' and head for bed.
