The light shines in the darkness and the darkness can not overcome it.

With this thought, and the ability to reflect and examine all in the light of Christ, we pray, lay it all down, and head for our beds.

Compline (night prayer) - Sunday, 7 February 2021

The end of another weekend arrives and we bring all that was and pray for it, along with all that will be this week, and assured of God's love and presence, head for bed and rest.

Compline (night prayer) - Saturday, 6 February 2021

Laying all that the day has held and laying them at the foot of the Cross,
we pray:

Save us, O Lord, while waking, and guard us while sleeping,
that awake we may watch with Christ and asleep may rest in peace. Amen.

The day ends with so many needs before us - how can we not pray?
So many blessings given and received - how can we not rejoice?
So many far away from the knowledge of the love of God - how can we not weep?

Lord, in Your mercy - hear our prayers.

As we look towards Lent we examine the day (and ourselves) in preparation for the arduous journey to the Cross.

Lord, may we be found watching and waiting and right in all we done this day and every day of our lives.

Compline (night prayer) - Tuesday, 2 February 2021

Picking though the rubble of the day we reflect, repent, rejoice, and resolve to to better with all before us tomorrow.

That done, we lay it all (in a neat pile) at the foot of the Cross and head for our beds.

Compline (night prayer) - Monday, 1 February 2021

The day ends and all that it has been is laid down as the baton of prayer and praise follows the sun and it taken up by fresh lips.

As we go to our beds may we find rest and sleep in readiness of the baton's return.
