Shooting Stars

For those of us who enjoy free spectacles of the astronomical kind this morning was a real treat. Nestled in our garden this morning I was treated to the spectacle of 'shooting stars' aplenty. In fact they were coming in at around the billed frequency of one a minute and were extremely good in terms of visibility and persistence.

These Quantrantids are an excellent warm-up act for the more spectacular shows which are to come and if you're reading this before it gets too light take a look and see what you can see. The source is somewhere between the end of the pan-handle of the Plough and the the star the handle points to (Arcturus)

Enjoy
