I'd love to be . . .

I'd love to lean into the wind and battle for you.
To take on opposition that beats me back,
Contests that seek to render me fallen and vanquished,

I'd love to overcome the spaces where He is perceived not to be,
Valiantly making the unsaid word said,
Proclaiming the emptiness full and the barren fruitful.

I'd love to be someone who stands up for the underdog,
Who fearlessly, tirelessly and unceasingly stands in the gap.
Setting people free from all that binds them.

I'd love to be one of those who, without a moments hesitation,
Turn to exactly the right place in my Bible without having to use the index
(But isn't that what it's there for?)
One who can provide a quote at the drop of a gaze.

I'd love to be ready with a wise word and a healing touch,
A listening eye and a knowing nod.
A seeing ear and an understanding sigh.

I'd love to be one of those people that get turned to in times of trouble,
One of those 'good in a crisis', clear-thinkingand decisive sorts,.
One who puts the kettle on and offers suitable biscuits.

Who wouldn't?

Who doesn't?

It's not just me

Is it?
