Paper Plane (Jan 27)

A nice little craft with all the weight forward making it fly like a rocket (terrorising cats and dogs in the house!). Youngest family member made this one:

Well not quite the P51 - Mustang I was thinking of but nevertheless it's not a bad effort (even if it doesn't fly as well as some of the others.

It still looks rather cool I reckon:

Whilst the name might not be the most inventive, the shape (and the fact it flies) certainly is.

I don't think I've ever made a square winged aircraft before - and it is cool!

Think this is one I will be making again :-)

Paper Plane (Jan 22) - Orion

This has loads of weight at the front and so gravity being what it is there's some good flight to had with this one.



As a fan of the M42 (Orion Nebula) I find it becomes a favourite for other reasons too :-)

Paper Plane (Jan 21) - P47-01 (Thunderbolt)

Another interesting construction - looks good, fun to make, not the best flyer in the box. But here it is:

This is quite a cool looking kite - doesn't fly that well though.

It's large and rather imposing amidst the collection amassed thus far:

Paper Plane (Jan 17) - Arumakan

On a dim an distant planet there are a race of gigantic aliens who make paper aircraft like this one ; they are called the 'Arumakan' - well, that gives me a reason for the background and I'm sticking to it!

This is by far the best paper aircraft I have ever made as it flies in a way that leaves you so satisfied it's ridiculous. It feels like it was born to do it rather than folded for the task!

I am so loving this Christmas present :-)

Paper Plane (Jan 16) - B-1B Lancer

One of those rather cool swing-wing (variable sweep if we're going to be accurate) aircraft the Lancer is typcial of the '80s aviation offerings.

The paper plane looks cool and flies brilliantly - but testing to construct (valley and mountains folds conspire to be a bit of a clever model):

I know the scale is out but it's nice to see it in the right setting and large enough to appreciate the model, isn't it?

Paper Plane (Jan 15) - MIG 21 (Fishbed)

Those were the days when NATO  designations for fighters (beginning with the letter 'F') were all the rage and I, as an Air cadet, learnt all the names and shapes for Aircraft Recognition. Fishbeds, Floggers, Foxbats, Fulcrum and the like.

So here we are, looking back to the days when the English Electric Lightning(with its twin Avon engines) was 'the' aircraft (still is) with a Mig 21 trying to get the upper hand:

So lifelike that I had to make a paper plane of the thing ;-)

Paper Plane (Jan 14) - Zoom

Today's offering is quite fun - doesn't quite fly as well as it looks (could be the builder at fault) but is a really lovely little craft.

I challenge you to work out which one it is in the picture:

Paper Plane (Jan 13) - Beeline

Not so sure we didn't get this masterpiece a little wrong but it's made and it flies fairly well - just quite a bit smaller than the other aircraft thus far.

The weekend's aircraft was a bit of a stunner interns of looks - simple to construct (being quite traditional) and flew like a bird!

This is a really cool present and the fact that various members of the family are taking their turns to make it shows how it truly is a gift for the whole family!

Proved a bit of a challenge for youngest child but we got there in the end and . . . it flies really well.

Disney's 'Planes' - At last a film I can connect with!

This has to be something that is a 'must see' for me and having done 'Les Mis' film adaptation (which was great for contextualisation but had some sad acting moments and even sadder singing ones) but still couldn't put down a great score and wonderful libretti I think is's more than obvious it's what I deserve.

I feel the need, the need for 'Planes'
