Those were the days when NATO designations for fighters (beginning with the letter 'F') were all the rage and I, as an Air cadet, learnt all the names and shapes for Aircraft Recognition. Fishbeds, Floggers, Foxbats, Fulcrum and the like.
So here we are, looking back to the days when the English Electric Lightning(with its twin Avon engines) was 'the' aircraft (still is) with a Mig 21 trying to get the upper hand:
So lifelike that I had to make a paper plane of the thing ;-)
