ISIS expel Christians from monastery

Reports are coming in that Islamist militants have seized the ancient 'mar behnam' monastery near Mosul and expelled the monks - allowing them to leave with nothing other than the clothes on their backs!

The monastery, dating back to the 4th Century, is an important Christian sacred space and a place of pilgrimage.

This expulsion shows the intolerance of the militants and demands some action from those who seek tolerance and peace as Mosul becomes a place where no Christians are to be found.

 Please pray - write to your MP and demand that our nation speaks up for those so sorely oppressed and threatened by the cancer that surely is ISIS.

A message for ALL Believers

Saw this in another context and just thought I needed to make it applicable to those of us who claim to have a faith. I write this especially in the light of the stresses that aberrative and distressing mental health issues bring to sufferers, family and the wider community.

Please pray for those with mental health issues - touch out to them - open your arms to them - listen - care - support - PRAY

Act for the Day: Take a Minute!

Here we are ladies and gentlemen (boys and girls*) a simple act of the day (where you can have a 'thought for the day'!):

Here's something for those who are Christian to take and celebrate Him, creation and the Cross

For those of other faiths to stand with whoever (or whatever) it is they believe in

For those with no faith in anything except man (and perhaps science) to just marvel at how all this came to be

To repeat  errors and spin is to strengthen what is wrong.

To post and publicise the Mail's comments is to advertise for them and makes what they have written worthwhile for them - its free publicity and puts the paper into the media (and public eye).

Look at the facts and ask yourself how you, me and others can be effective in standing for the oppressed and marginalised and stand against those who do wrong.

It's what Church and thinking people (hopefully one and the same) do!

What would the LORD have us do? Act rightly with mercy (not contempt), seeking Justice (not revenge) as those who count themselves not better than others but less than (it's called humility).
