Made me laugh: One up from foot washing?

One of those typos that make Easter all the more special?

Some days we just don't always words so well!

And there is probably no better example than this shop sign for the RSPCA's charity shop in the town of Bury:

Perhaps 'Helping Bury's Animals might have been a little more acceptable?

The problem is that we all do it, give the wrong meaning emerging from the right words.

A colleague, speaking on the joys of working in a school chaplaincy told an assembled conference audience about his ministry and, "... the joy he had had over the many years in being able to touch so many young people!" Now we all know what they meant by those words but there is a degree of discomfort found in them when it comes to safeguarding!

I love the various clever puns and malapropisms that some shopkeepers take up as their shop name, after all,  'Eating Nemo' and the 'Cod Father' always make for a smile.

One of those which makes me laugh is this:

Which I just want to be real because it's something that makes me smile.

Many years ago, a member of a church executive visited a monthly women's mission group to speak about the good work being done by the society in East Africa. Taking that stage he greeted the assembled gathering with the words, "Well I can see from your faces it's that time of the month again! Let's talk about missions!'

Apparently the look on their faces wasn't warm and welcoming - and his colleagues never let him forget it! Seems we all do it at some time, don't we?

This envelope arrived in the post this morning:

 Turns out that one of out children wanted a new sim card and a new name!

So this Vicar comes up to me and says: ASA

This is something I experienced first hand a couple of weeks back when I was at a training event - this chap buttonholed me and started telling me how amazing they were and how much they were valued by the Bishop. As they left someone nearby to me turned to me and said exactly what the image has.

As ever humour reflecting true life I guess:

I have to say that this looks just a little too contrived to be true but it's one of those images that, regardless of your politics or nationalistic zeal, appears to bring a smile to the face of all who see it:

Made me laugh: A day at the Zoo

Had a day out during the holidays and so we decided to take the children to the

When we got there it was amazing that we managed to find a parking space and get in, the place seemed quite deserted. But we soon found out why we we arrived at the first enclosure and found it empty:

A little surprised we went across to see the sea lions and penguins

BUT

That was empty too:

No matter where we went the pens, cages and pools were empty and, finding a keeper, we began to take him to task over the fact there were no animals. "Hang on," he said, "There are animals, follow me!"

So we did and this is what we found:

Confused, and more than a little disappointed,  I asked the keeper what the animal in the cage was supposed to be to which came the response, as he walked away shaking his head,

 "It's a ShitTzu innit?"

One of the biggest struggles I have, in and out of Church, is the ability of people to misinterpret what is, on my part, a logical and reasonable act because of their perspective. From where they are looking my actions are perhaps quite bizarre - much like the chap in this short clip:

This is not just fun, but a prompt to stop, think and see things from the other person's side - seeing what they can see is a fine art indeed!

Made me laugh: Where'd they go?

This is one of those clips that you just hope has been staged and yet the image of the thick donut eating US Police officer lurks at the back of the mind and applauds!

Dogcollars - they're in the Post (office!)

Last September I contacted a clerical outfitters and ordered some 'dogcollars' AKA 'Tab Insert Collars'. When they arrived I found I'd clicked the wrong box and they were the wrong size and so I sent them back - never to see them (or the replacements) again!

having eventually sorted the situation I was waiting patiently for some more of the things to arrive (for how long can you keep making your own from plasticard and washing up bottles?). Eventually an envelope dropped through the door and, voila! (how sophisticated am I?) this is what I received:

Interestingly the envelope contained a packing note/letter (which you can see in the tucked into the envelope on the 'Bottom of Envelope' image (bottom lefthand photo').

I've put this on here to:

a. inform the company I purchased the collars from,

b. To say 'Thank You' to the Post Office for making me laugh (I'm assuming that the envelope went through a letter sorting machine and the collars didn't),  and

c. To prove that stuff does get lost in the post (generally it's a great excuse that sits alongside 'the wife doesn't understand me!').

Please send any used 'fairy bottles' to the Parish :-)

This is one of those quite clever and rather funny little things that crop up from time to time and has appeared in many different version but it made me smile anyway (and yes, I know I'm simple minded):

Always check what else is in the frame!

This was some good advice I was given by a photographer at one of my first weddings and it has served me well over the years for I am rarely photographed with unfortunate backgrounds or nursing mothers and the like.

Not so those who are pictured in this photograph though for everyone who has seen it have all uttered the same word.

Wonder how you'll do with it?

Still it brought a smile on a day where they are few and far between!

How cool is this?

Just been speaking to someone who was asked to do presentation at meeting. Having agreed they asked if they was PowerPoint available (the answer to which was 'Yes').

The appointed day arrived and they arrived at the venue and asked the organiser where the PowerPoint was and were taken to the room where the meeting was to be held and shown it:

it's a 13A power point!

Thankfully they had the nous to bring their own laptop and projector - you couldn't write it as fiction could you?

Still, a great lesson in communication and the way that even when using the same words you cannot be guaranteed that you mean the same thing :-)
