Microsoft scams - Don't get taken in!

Here's another warning for those people who think that the nice foreign sounding person (male and female) who has taken the trouble to telephone you so they can 'fix' your PC problem is kind and looking out for you.

They are neither - this is a scam and despite the people who claim that this is not nice, those who prey on the generally trusting (and often ill-informed) public are less nice still. Listen and be aware that in this conversation the person on the other end claims to be from Microsoft - He is not!

DO NOT BE TRICKED

Gentle as doves, cunning as serpents and even more switched on than your computer ;-)

This is not just me winding someone up - this is effectively the Church looking out for the weaker brethren (but yes, it is fun too!).

My husband did similar when phoned by these people. As his computer was out of action and with a computer repair company we knew it was a scam!

Is it just me, or does the "victim" sound suspiciously like pTerry Pratchett?

Ahh.

Having now listened to the radio interview, and re-read the entry more carefully, let me amend that slightly:

Is it just me, or does the Vicar sound suspiciously like pTerry Pratchett?

Has anyone ever seen them in the same room together?
