What's a Glowstick?

Ray asked me what a glowstick was and so I've done a quick video to demonstrate the beastie in operation.

It's merely a stick (4" in this case) which when bent causes two chemicals to mix and give off a light. This one is blue but they come in many colours:

I hope this answers the question.

I buy them at £30 for 100 (inc delivery) and they last about 36 hrs at most, but are great for services where I'd like to have a candle but the potential for damage or harm (i.e. with smaller children) is great.

Not only are they much, much safer than candles, but the symbolism of everyone taking the Christ-light out of the church building and into their community is so much greater. We have used them for three years now and they save so much angst in a medieval building (all that wood) absolutely crowded with children and young people in close proximity.

Indeedy!

Safe in terms of fire risk and damage to the smaller, and not so small, wielder of a candle as part of a service.

I also like the taking home of the 'Christ Light', which is still
Giving its light, as one of the additional benefits too.

Thanks for comment,
